Lets Celebrate The Tanabata Star Festival ~

Orihime and Hikoboshi
Can You Spot Them~
So how the hell is tatabanta and how does it relate to my blog?? Well quite simply it's a two thousand year old Asian holiday/tradition that Japan, China and South Korea still celebrate to this day. The legend or story of this holiday has been used countless times in manga, anime, visual novels, books and other forums of entertainment in Asia so I figured why not share a little on what this holiday is about. The story is actually pretty simple and kinda romantic, however due to lack of my own time I will just copy-paste Wikipedia's summary below under the fair-use clause.

Orihime (織姫 Weaving Princess), daughter of the Tentei (天帝 Sky King, or the universe itself), wove beautiful clothes by the bank of the Amanogawa (天の川 Milky Way, lit. "heavenly river"). Her father loved the cloth that she wove and so she worked very hard every day to weave it. However, Orihime was sad that because of her hard work she could never meet and fall in love with anyone. Concerned about his daughter, Tentei arranged for her to meet Hikoboshi (彦星 Cow Herder Star) (also referred to as Kengyuu (牽牛)) who lived and worked on the other side of the Amanogawa. When the two met, they fell instantly in love with each other and married shortly thereafter. However, once married, Orihime no longer would weave cloth for Tentei and Hikoboshi allowed his cows to stray all over Heaven. In anger, Tentei separated the two lovers across the Amanogawa and forbade them to meet. Orihime became despondent at the loss of her husband and asked her father to let them meet again. Tentei was moved by his daughter’s tears and allowed the two to meet on the 7th day of the 7th month if she worked hard and finished her weaving. The first time they tried to meet, however, they found that they could not cross the river because there was no bridge. Orihime cried so much that a flock of magpies came and promised to make a bridge with their wings so that she could cross the river. It is said that if it rains on Tanabata, the magpies cannot come and the two lovers must wait until another year to meet.

As you can plainly see it's really a simple story so every July 7th major Asian nations celebrate the reunion of Orihime and Hikoboshi under the star filled sky with festivals fireworks, parades by dressing up in traditional clothing known as yukata's. I bring this up again because one of the visual novels I am playing called Hoshizora no Memoria- Wish Upon a Shooting Star deals greatly with this old legend. It actually made me do research to find out what the hell was going on which I give that some huge props for making me do so.

I also regert not diving deeper into this legend when I was watching/reading other series but I have never seen such focus before on this legend being done, or maybe my brain just blocked it out for some reason...hmmm oh well. If you also happen to be fan of lucky star to day is the b-day of the Hiiragi Twins "Kagami & Tsukasa". Well With all of the info dumping out the way I figure that I'll share a few anime related pics and the OP to wish upon a shooting star I uploaded to you-tube, so sit back and enjoy everyone~

Some Idea's For New Anime/Visual-Novel Intellectual Property

Wafu~
The whole point of this post is just some random ideas I have for new anime. There have been so many cookie cutter series lately personally I have gotten bored with a lot of genres lately. This especially lies the lazy adapts of eroges/visual novels that translate to a rushed twelve episode harem hi-jinx series that are now painful to watch. Originality is something hard to do when you need to make a bottom line in order to live. However it is still possible to take some long established tropes/cliches and still make it enjoyable to series that is fun to read or watch even if the series isn't serious or low-key on some end.

The best way of doing this by trying or build or do some twist/turns to already established plots to make something feel fresh. Even if you need to use old tropes so people can keep interest in the medium try adding some twist or turns so it will not be so bland. Something else really important is how the execution of the material is handled, such cases are with anime series like ToLoveRu and Is This Zombie prove you can re-use the same old material over again, but have a fairly decent product in the end.  You just need to charters some kind of depth to them instead of making them so damn one dimensional all the time.

Below is just an idea I would like to see for an anime since I am a huge melo-drama fan/slice of life fan. What do you think should be done to make anime or manga fresh again using already established set-ups?? Say for example the child-hood friend cliche where the MC moves back to his hometown and doesn't have any memory of her or any promises he might of made. You can twist this around by making the MC remember that promise and his child hood friend which can turn something overused to fresh/new in the market. Even minor changes like this can completely change the outcome of story and grab peoples attention if done right now it's time for my idea.

We have a standard male lead becomes friends with a 2-3 female characters however he is homosexual, so it's easier for him to become friends with some of the opposite sex. The girls know this because he is having a hard time in school and getting constantly picked on by his class-mates over time he becomes really good friends with certain girl. However to add a huge twist it turns out that she is in love with the same guy as the MC. Now this is something I would actually like to see done and there is countless ways of doing it however what do you think?? What are your ideas for any new anime, manga for visual novel IP's?? Share them with me below and get the idea tank moving, I'll catch you all around later~

El Sy Congroo; Hacking The Stein's Gate Ios App

Tap the screen to let the madness begin
Yes just as the title describes this is going to be a helpful guide to let you hack the stein's;gate ios app and play in game in English. This is all thanks to the guys over at the tsun;tsun blog who have worked hard taking the PC English patch and coding it over for the ios version. This is actually great way to help promote the game even more now that's accessible to the English so a huge barrier is finally out of the way. Now lets get down to business with the tools you need to get the job done, please make sure follow these instructions carefully, also keep in mind this is a manual patch you will need to cut/paste files.

I am not responsible if you f*** up your iPod or iPad by bricking the device
  1. Your device will need to be Jail-Broken to install the app. The green poison free-ware installer is your best route here.
  2. The next thing you will need is at least 1.83 gigs free space on your ios device to store the app. You can also legally purchase the game from iTunes if you choose to show your support.
  3. Another piece of free-ware you will need is iFun-box which allows you dig around your ios device install folders and apply the patch directly.
  4. The last thing you need is the patches which you can obtain at the tsuntsun blog unless you can read Nippon which beats the entire point of doing this patch in the first place.
  5. After you have fully installed the app click open the iFun-box software which it will bring up a huge list of folders. Click on the folder that says user applications and you will see the stein's;gate logo.
  6. Click on the said logo which will bring up four folders again click on the one that says steins;gate then you will be able to accesses the app installation folder. Your going to have to be a little patient here so keep your pants on while it waits to load.
  7. Now if you have downloaded all the patches make sure they are unzipped so you can copy/paste the files directly in the steins gate app folder "this includes the movies and the English patches" However you will need to post the document patch in the document folder. Again it will take some to writer over the previous ones and the iFun-box might freeze just give it some time.
  8. After doing this load up the steins;gate app and you will be able to enjoy the story in English, however note there is no word wrapping at this time but hey it's better than nothing at this point in time.

Enjoy The Op I Uploaded To You-Tube

Now if you have full followed all of these instructions you can play the steins;gate ios app with little to no problems. If you do run across any bugs report them to them people over at the tsuntsun blog and they should be able to help you. I know that this article was a bit boring this time around and it's been nearly a month since I last posted personally there has just been so much going through my mind lately. I will work harder to have more reviews up soon so please look forward to them. Until next time catch ya later~

Edit: Yeah it's only been a day since this post however there has been an update from the group doing the project. One thing is do not update the app for the newer patch I am going to link to. It seems that version V 1.3 is not compatible with their patch "5b+Nitro plus caught on to a glitch from the install. The second bit of news is that this patch is much simpler to install with the iFunbox software.

One last bit is that this patch for non-jail broken iPod/iPad so if you want to use the manual patch feel free to do so and it does work with the updated version. Now feel free to click the links below and please follow their instructions carefully or end up with an expensive paper-weight. That's it for now I will keep you all updated on anymore progress of this patch in the future.

Proof that it works

A New Trend In Psp Visual Novel Endings??

Oremio Ayase's True Ending

I am not really sure if you have noticed the latest trend in direct from anime to visual novel endings. One thing I have noticed despite these games being all ages or rated "cero C" or "esrb T"  Is the type of endings they choose to throw in. Mind you i am not not personally morally outraged by this or offended. It takes a lot in this day/age to do that to my mental psyche due to the internet and the way life has treated in me general.

Now for those who have chatted with me online I am a huge fan of Visual Novels. With titles such as Clannad, Umineko, Little Busters which all have psp ports in-case you are wondering. Only clannad has a pregnancy ending but we all know what happens with that route. Why are they pushing so hard to always have a pregnancy ending for ever PSP visual novel?? We all know the main demographic for these type of games but mind you there is also teens/young adults that play them as well.

This subject may or may not cause some stir some shit. Bandai-Namco always seems to release a visual novel for the psp as soon as the TV anime is done airing to sell more merchandise. Now the trend I have noticed is the type of endings that you get in newer vn's which results with main character getting love interest pregnant. Is this just a cry to say procreate already, or this some kind of fetish the developers have??

Now I am not sure if you are fan of these types of games or if this even shocking to you. I will admit the surprise ending for toradora still shocks me a bit. I will post a few screen caps below but tell me what do you think of this trend?? Does it morally offend you or is it something that intrigues you?? The latest game to do this was the visual novel for Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai. Hyper-links to buy the games are below, along with spoilers as well.

We are the Little Busters! Now 100% english!

Wooh! Little Busters has been fully translated.
But people with the ME/EX versions will have to wait for another translation...

Translation Notes:

The past few weeks after translation "finished" have been incredibly busy thanks to testing, debugging and general fixing, but finally...

Team fluffy is delighted to announce the release of the Little Busters! complete translation patch.
The impatient one may proceed to download it here

Four and a half years after the original game was released, three and a half years after the translation project started, and two years after our 50%, A.K.A. common route patch, this product of our labor allows you, the player, to experience the game in full, from beginning to end, non-stop, in English.

This patch contains every character route, every minigame and everything else translated.
It also includes our recommended set of fonts.

No machine translation was hurt during production.

We apologise in advance in case this disturbs your family's holidays.

and for those people with EX/ME

In order not to delay the release of the main patch above, we skipped some of the polish from the EX/ME script. We have tried to make these as enjoyable as possible with the translated material presently available. Thus some of the more critical new lines amidst the otherwise translated scripts have already been translated, but not all of them.

  1. These extra patches give EX/ME working minigames, but in return they have a certain amount of untranslated lines here and there, for systemic reasons.
  2. There are also known issues that would've been too much work to fix for this release - the biggest one is one where lines with the same Japanese text receive the same translation everywhere in the script. This causes some errors in minigames, but also makes some lines appear rather weird at places in the script.
  3. You will not find new content in the routes with this patch, because that is the greater part of the problem itself. Instead you will get THE original Little Busters! routes in all their glory. All new content beyond that will have to wait for its appropriate releases.
  4. Muscle Sensation doesn't work in this patch. Sorry, there's just no way around this until we get around to properly re-translating the Kud route.

Little Busters! Ecstasy First Press Limited Edition owners do not need to install the Little Busters! EX 1.01 patch to use our translation.

I know this isn't really a review but I will have my top ten anime of the year list up soon.

Corpse Party Release Date/Details.

Uhh.. Yeah.. That Had To Hurt.

For those who have been following news on this game or have read my previous post about it, then you know that this is first true horror visual novel/rpg to make it state side "even if it's only digital download only". The main focus of the game revolves around a group of high school friends that are trap in an condemned  elementary school. This is where a series of grizzly serial murders took place. over ten years prior school called Heavenly Host Elementary, "who would kill 10 innocent children in a grizzly matter and for what reason??"  I also wish to add this game will have one of the most note worthy Japanese va cast I have seen in a long time.

Let us move on to the main focus, which is trying to solve these murders however the biggest thing is trying to get out alive. The game is split up in to different chapters for each character which only happen to have one true/happy ending. This means if you don't play right/make the right choices you will end up dead and get the worse ending possible for each chapter that you play, "so can you get out alive, or will face a horrible fate??" Well When the game hits the PSN Nov 22nd 2011, see if you're brave enough to do so.

To You of the Future - I give you every song...

Mirai no Kimi to, Subete no Uta ni, also commonly named MikuKisu is an all ages Vocaloid themed Visual Novel by Supplement Time.
The game starts off with a chobits feel to it, at the time MikuKisu is set in androids are commonplace in society, from maid androids to singing androids they have many uses.

On a winters night you are walking home after drinking with some friends you notice a girl asleep on the street. At first sight she seems like a normal girl but after a closer inspection turns out to be a singing android, 01 Hatsune Miku.

After taking her home, installing her and then being glomped, you realize she can only say "mi~"
She also seems to lack standard functions which becomes a problem when getting her into some clothes.
After discovering she had to be configured, you set her language, behavior and vocal settings. This allows Miku to speak and more importantly sing.
And so begins your new musical life with Miku.

It has a linear plot so no choices in this VN, it also has quite a rapid progression due to MikuKisu's short length. But the life with Miku is enjoyable nevertheless.
The story seems to be based around a few of the more popular Hatsune Miku songs, but mentioning them will end up adding spoilers to this review. Of course a Miku fan could easily notice the links.
In fact I was never a big Miku fan, I prefered Luka's darker music, however this game has linked a great plot with the lyrics of Miku's songs, and we all know songs are better when we can link them to something.

The CG art is very well done, Miku is portrayed really well and has a brilliant smile.
As for the background art, well there aren't many backgrounds due to the lack of places visited.
Like most VNs sold at Comiket there are no voices in the game, most of the background music is forgettable as well.
It includes some of Miku's songs like White Letter and one of my favorites Time Limit which I now find kind of hard to listen to.
Unfortunately there in no music mode when the game is finished so the only way to find them again is either via the internet or by playing MikuKisu over again.

Hatsune Miku Is Really Catching On...

Official Banner/Poster
If you don't know what vocaloid is or even who Hatsune Miku, then you must have been living under a rock for past five-six years. More less it's an made of group of idols using special software to synthesize voices to make unenviable flash animations and even full motion holograms to all ages visual novels. The main point of this post is to let you know that they are doing a concert in nine USA cites on Nov 10th @7pm, the list of cities are below.

Baltimore, MD
Boston (Manchester), MA
Chicago, IL
Houston, TX
Los Angeles, CA
Orange, CA
New York, NY – Two locations
San Francisco/Bay Area, CA
Seattle, WA

To me this is a huge sign that Hatsune Miku is really catching on state-side or an event like this wouldn't even possible. In all honesty even I am amazed to see that she is that popular with fans over here but hell I have been proven wrong about things before. Well I shall catch you all around later, let me know what you think and will you be attending the concert?? "Sadly I will be unable to do so myself"

Just In Time For Halloween... A Review More Depth Look On Higurashi

Rika Will Make You Submit..

This review is an updated more thought for the entire Higurashi series "this will cover the visual novel and anime". This review does contain spoilers so if you really hate that sort of thing.. all I have to say is, just deal with it

This series originally came from a visual novel adaption from 7th expansion which first came out in comiket 62 august 10th 2002, and the squeal arcs where released up until 2006 comiket 70. There is a full English adaption out for this visual-novel from manga-gamer and as of now you can also purchase the first arc for your Ipod/Iphone and Ipad via I-tunes for .99$. If wish to play the p.c. version the head over to manga gamer to buy a legal copy or can download a free demo for the first arc. " I also highly recommend you getting the sprite hack for the visual novel, this makes it much more bearable to look at."

What an I say about this series that makes me flinch. Well one thing comes to mind is that the series animation is done by "studio deen" which is known for quailty works. It's also quite obvious where the animation falls flat on ass, which sadly do cut away from the serious tone the series is trying present. However the series as a whole is picked back up with it's plot/story/characters and sense of mystery with horror elements that happen to kick all of that out the window. So I am able to handle some drops in the overall quality in the animation. One thing I wanto to point out is that if you are not fan gore or are squeamish in any-way please avoid the t.v. anime and read the visual novel.

This series starts off with our male lead Keiichi Maebara who has moved to the country side with his parents in small town called Hinamizawa "this is the usual set up for the typical harem anime and slice of life series however I was proved wrong within the first thirty seconds of episode one." The village that keiichi moves to is in the rural country side so he is in for a bit of cultural shock as well since he is from the city after all "Again I do realize this is cheap set up however it fits the series just perfectly" One other thing I love about this show is that it takes place in the early 80's so there is no chance of DNA evidence to prove who done it "this is a mystery/horror series after all"

Keiichi adapts pretty quickly since he had a reason for wanting to leave his old home town but I will not spoil that for you. He makes friends with one of the main heroine's "Rena Ryugu" who has a fascination with cute things no matter the gender or what kind of toy it is. I also wish to add one of the biggest anime quotes happen to come from rena-chan which is " I am going to take it home". Since the town has such a low population "around two thousand or so" all of kids go to the same school/class not matter what grade you are in, "adding more to reality that the characters do live in rural country side".

So Keiichi is friends with mainly just "females characters such as Rena, Mion, Shion, Satoko and Rika" but this does not  fall into the harem territory unless you really want it to. " I really thought it was going to be an harem anime at first..I was proved wrong, majorly wrong by the end of arc1.  Keiichi unlike most male leads also helps teach his younger/older class mates, due in part his education is much higher since was learning at a higher level from at his previous school. Even with all of this Keiichi is still a newbie at there afternoon school club where you play card games or old board games and have you have to suffer from a batsu punishment if you loose.

The Village of Shirakawa, Gifu In Japan
This is what Hinamizawa was based on
The other main focus of the series is on vast range of serial murders that have been happening for five years that take place from 1978-1983. Everyone thinks this is a curse from the local deity Oyashiro-sama for wanting to leave/tear down the home land during the dam war "this would flood the whole town and force everyone to move". The curse revolves around some one dying and some one disappears from with-out a trace. Is this truly the work of god/goddesses or is it something more major "you will have to come to that conclusion on your own". However if you wish use the old bastard Ooishi or the detective in the series as medium to gather clues.

Hinamizawa it's self dipped in traditional Japanese culture all over the place, from the festival of departed souls to main head family and being ousted for what your family did even though your child. Even with all of these barriers it is still very enjoyable to watch "although it's not for the faint of heart". There is even use for old Japanese torture devices from the Sonozaki family use to keep sin/punishment in order "you could relate them to yakuza if you wish, due their power they hold in the village". They are even to be suspected behind the murders at one point.. maybe they are or maybe it's some one you are least suspecting "I did not see the reason why, how or who at all and neither will you until arc four or five". Another thing that did surprise me was around arc four you realize no only a few people die..everyone in the entire village does, but how or for what reason???

You Fu**ed bro

Overall Higurashi is a good example of Japanese style horror that will keep you edge of your seat asking what the hell just happened. However  If you have a problem with gore or even "child abuse",  which does happen in some arcs then avoid this series at all cost. Something else that might bother a few is the fact the story "re-sets every arc after every five to six episodes" This will really confuse some at first however it is essential to show or set up different perspectives from other characters, if you hate that type of writing the just avoid the series. However unlike many shows this anime/visual novel has a true/happy ending that is worth fighting for which is obtainable through miracle in the second season kai or answer arcs.

Noting like some bernkastel wine.. " do you get the joke?"
Another huge plus for this franchise is the creepy music it uses to set the mood. This helps establish when something major is going happen "such as some-one being killed or closing in the culprit."  The t.v. anime does a wonderful job on this level with the bone chilling op from season one that even to this day makes me cringe. Higurashi overall does something very important for the mystery genre. They do established who done it and how they done it. However the cover the most important part which is WHY they done it.

I can not stress enough the reason why is one of the most important branch in a mystery series/novel.This helps gives the reader/viewer a chance to see through the killers eyes and understand what's going on through their brain. It also helps/set up an understanding why a person could kill over two thousand people just to obtain their goal no matter how deprived it may be. Personally even I felt sorry for the person that was doing the heinous acts towards the end, However I think that is the point in covering why the done it in the first place.

Well I could go on but there isn't any need for me to. There is no longer anyone that holds the anime licensed in America so if you want to download it then be my guest, however the visual novel and manga is here to legally own. If you ask kindly enough then maybe I will post links to download the anime if you wish but I will not provide links to download the game or manga "please do support the legal means of supporting the series if you can". That's all she wrote on this one, just leave me some feed back and tell me. Now do you have what it takes to solve the mystery or will you just let two thousand innocent people die???

New Sprite Patch For Umineko Is Up

Beatrice Is Happy

It's been awhile since the Ps3 to PC Umineko project took off the ground and they finally have an update for the sprites/backgrounds. The people over Tweaking Umineko have been working really hard to see a complete patch so the game will be on par with the Ps3 version "which seems to have no chance getting localized liked I hoped". I really do appreciate the work they are doing so far and I could wish that was able to help more besides promoting their work to the best of ability.

One other thing I will be doing is playing arc 4 of the game to show off all of their hard working starting 10/17/11 at 12pm est. Well feel free to download the graphical patch below and if your intrested check out the channel on you-tube to see some play. Hmm.. Not much else to say on this as of now, so i will catch you all later. Make sure to stay safe this month... the month that begin the whole mystery nearly twenty five years ago.

Being Generous So... Links For The Fate/Stay Night VN Torrent

Oh Look.. It's Saber.. GUH!!!

Still no reviews/previews are up yet and I apologize for that by sharing a torrent link with one of the most famous visual novels ever Fate/Stay Night. This is something I usually do not do, however I fell like it's a decent make up for the lack in the site lately. I also think this is decent timing with the new series that's out for the fall line-up so everyone can experience the series from the original source material. I hope you enjoy these gifts and please make sure.. Buy a copy when you're able to show your support, catch you all around later.

PC Version W/ Voice Patch

Edit: Just to let all know  this is my first and last torrent hosted post. I am really trying to hard to get support from jast-usa, cruncy-roll and ann. If I do host any more links they will be ddl links from my media-fire account. These will usually be just hard to find partial or full english patches for visual novels/eroges that are removed or lost due to official releases/ C&D letters.

Looking For Help WIth The Air VN

This is more of plea this time around everyone " I really need some help with this". Thanks to some very kind anons from @chan's /jp/ board.  Due to digging around I was able to get hold of the seen.txt that has around 30-40% of the Air visual novel translated. Despite there being problems with the font "as seen above", the game is playable for only one route which is fine. Now my plea is this.. since this did get a C&D from Key/Visual Arts, the project has long been abandoned since 09 from TLWIKI

I do have the all of the seen.txt as just stated that the translators where using before the C&D and I would love to see this taken off the ground again. So far I have only tried this patch wit the standard or orignal version of Air vn "which is 18+ and has no voice overs". So it will take some major time to make it compatible with the all ages and memorial edition, if that's even a possibility. Sadly as I stated before in some other post I don't know how to program nor do I know how to encode, so I need people that know how to do this.

Forever Wandering

Yeah I might be asking for alot however I willing to promote, host any files and beta test to see this project get done. I do realize that this will take a lot of work to do but I have some faith that it can be done, if enough effort is put in. Hell Kannon, Little Busters, Clannad, Planetarin, and One, All have patches. It's not out the realm of possibility people. I personally have watched the Air anime, movie and read the manga. Only 1/3 had a happy ending "guess which one", so I want to see if it's possible to obtain an happy ending in the visual novel as well.

I might be asking for to much but come the hell on.. It's no impossible, nothing is. If you want to help me out on this just leave a comment here in the GB or send an email to my gmail account. So hmm... sorry for the long dry out plea but this is something important me even with my limited skills. Even you can't do anything but just spread the word then do that for me every little bit helps. Well I will catch you all around later, here is to hope/successes of this project.

Update One: Adding a link to the seen.txt so any body will be able to use it.

Updated Two: The seen.txt works with all versions of Air to certain point, the main problem is the h-scenes in the regular edition are going to need a separate translation. The same goes for the memorial edition since the script is changed with different routes/scenes/endings/.
